After "nothing. I will be there, by not being there.“ (2001), which was awarded the NRW 2001 Prize, is “outre vie” the second part of a trilogy inspired by Samual Beckett’s “Texts on Nothing”.

“outre vie” is dedicated to life: We are born each day and die each day.

Beginnings and endings lie close together. Life begins, develops or ends – is over and simultaneously alive – between being and not being lies a never ending cycle of becoming. In the space between, we wait for our life to begin, for us to have our own story; or we wait for it to end, for us to develop a new story. Differentiating in the here and now, elsewhere and nowhere, 5 dancers explore the in-between spaces of body and soul, individual and society, dreams and memory, space and time; letting a mosaic of the lives of past, current, possible and future fates develop.

Danced thoughts Toula Limnaios has proved more than once that she is one of the most soulful choreographers in the Berlin independent dance scene.
Berliner Morgenpost, Andrea Philippi, 6. - 12. February 2003.

The Greek choreographer Toula Limnaios belongs to these wonderful beings, who are capable of bringing to light the entire inner life of a person through the tiniest of movements. .... Samuel Beckett’s „Texts on Nothing“ written in 1955, inspired the artist to her newest piece. The result is an homage to life with all its reversals, dark sides and streams of thought. Dance, video and music fuse to an almost colorful mosaic situated between existence and non-existence.... becoming and dying. The dancer’s paths crisscross to distant, dripping violin sounds, they whisper moving words and slowly dissolve into each other’s bodies. “outre vie“ dives deeply into the deep caves of sentiment - ... an intimate dance with life, that should not be missed.

Dance trilogy: following the trail of life ...
The Greek choreographer Toula Limnaios has dedicated her most recent piece to life itself. The piece “outre vie“ is, after the acclaimed choreography of last year, „nothing. I will be there, by not being there.“... Inspired by Beckett’s alternating rhythm, his dualism of existence and non-existence, between continuous becoming and dying, Toula Limnaios, who has been working in Berlin since 1997, wants to create a “mosaic of life“, in which the paths of the five dancers continuously cross each other, connect and deflect.
“outre vie“ can mean many things. It can describe the other side of each and every life, its history, its futures, the waiting at the crossroads or the moments of a declining endpoint, at which there is always a new beginning. If you follow the work of Toula Limnaios, you will quickly discover the great talent of this choreographer: She almost always succeeds in bringing spiritual landscapes to the stage... With live violin accompaniment, video impressions and a new, very well harmonized ensemble, the compangnie toula limnaios once again promises to leave behind on stage deep traces of life at the Theater am Halleschen Ufer.
