ralf r. ollertz, born in 1964, studied composition, electroacoustic music, conducting and piano at the meistersinger conservatory in nürnberg and at the robert schumann hochschule in düsseldorf under vivienne olive, wilfried jentzsch, werner a. albert and günther becker. he was the musical director at the municipal theater in wuppertal and held a scholarship to study composition with salvatore sciarrino in italy. he continued his compositorial education under nicolaus a. huber and extended his knowledge of musical electronics at the ICEM institute at the folkwang hochschule in essen under dirk reith. additionally he followed courses in conducting, founded and managed the ensemble for new music "go ahead" and worked very closely with artists like bettina elmpt, winfried habel and jens k. kaul. he has produced radio dramas together with clarence barlow and hartmut geerken and was the musical director of the claudia lichtblau dance company. Since 1996 he is working with the cie. toula limnaios for contemporary dance. He is the artistic director of the HALLE TANZBÜHNE BERLIN. over the past years he has written not only chamber and orchestra music, but also radio dramas, music for the theater, movies and dance for which he received several international prizes and grants. until now his work as a composer and conductor has taken him through europe, south america, australia, japan and the usa.
